Inside Patriotism

"Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries, because you were born in it."

This statement smacks of something very narrow and petty. Patriotism can never be the conviction in superiority of the nation, for superiority is the conclusion of comparison and  comparison is the desideratum of a feeble mind and personality.

The greatness of a nation comes from the values it subscribes to and those values are shared all over the world, if they have as their end, the well-being of the individuals who make up those nations.

The question of comparison appears plausible to those who cannot appreciate those universal values and who, owing to such narrowness of thought seek the spirit of distinction, difference and separatism from the amicable, pro-human institution of nation-states.

What else than maintaining peace and order by regional administration could be the purpose of these nation-states spread all over the world? The human good embedded in this apparently distinctive institution is what justifies the compartmentalized human allegiance which results from such superficial distinctions as countries, nations and states.

The description below this picture cripples the patriotism which outpours in the form of likes and comments and the unexpressed homage to the nation. Leadership means leading the vast expanse of energy and the led must be led right or not led at all.
